Product Details

Simple to use, this jig produces strong, screwed pocket hole joints for use in cabinet and furniture construction. Pocket holes are a favourite joint in furniture construction because, as well as their strength, they are quick to produce and easily hidden with the use of wooden plugs. The joint is created by drilling a screw hole and counterbore into one of the two pieces to be joined. The holes are then automatically aligned and positioned for attaching the workpiece.

The jig is fully adjustable for use with solid timber from 19mm to 38mm (3/4" to 1 1/2") thick, centering each pair of screw holes between 25mm to 73mm (1" to 2 7/8") apart. Mounted on a 13mm thick aluminium base the adjustable toggle clamp, fitted with a rubber pad securely holds the timber without marking or indenting it. The base is drilled and countersunk for bench mounting, ideal for repetitive pocket hole drilling. Also, the flat underside of the head prevents the grain from splitting within the pocket and this jig can be used with all types of hardwood and softwood. Used for making T and L shaped joints and perfect for cabinet and drawer construction.

As with all leading pocket hole jigs during the first couple of uses you will find fine aluminium swarf mixed with the wood swarf due to the precise engineering tolerences between the drill bit and aluminium guide holes.

The jig is supplied with a stepped 10mm (3/8") diameter x 150mm drill bit, with depth collar, 2 x square drive screwdriver bits, a pack of 50 self-tapping screws and a set of hex keys.

You do get what you pay for in this world. This is a very good entry level Pocket Hole Jig. For very small money it will give you a great start in pocket holing and face frame construction and I recommend it highly. I think there are some limitations and shortcomings compared to jigs that cost £100 more, but not many. Theres 101 videos on you tube to give you an intro to pocket holing, and they are better than 100 pages of instructions.
Get it. Use it. Love it.

This is a well built pocket jig but when you first use it you get bits of aluminium come out with the wood dust but was told by Rutland this will happen seems strange
Also when using larger pcs of timber you have to undo the 4 hex bolts and go back to the next 2 holes but you don't need the 4 bolts put the other 2 in the spare holes for safe keeping

I strongly recommend this double hole pocket jig. I previously used a single hole mini pocket jig and found it very difficult to set up and align. This is quick and simple to use and give first class results every time.

Mr K Wild

Excellent for strong, quick and reliable joints. Super price for the quality.

John Thompson

delighted with this jig. It is very robust and the build quality is excellent. I have used it on over a dozen projects and allows me to make rock solid pocket joints. Definitely recommend to any fellow carpenter.

having just purchased and received the Pocket Hole Guide Kit, I set about testing it immediately from the box. Its as easy as falling of a log, if you can not use this jig, best give up wood work. As far as the strength of the joint, with or without glue, solid as a rock. If you think you have a need for one, and I am sure you will, go for it, don't hesitate. As regards the delivery time, best get your work top cleared, it will be with you before you finish. Highly recommended. Malcolm S Wales

I used the pocket hole jig to fasten some legs for a table I was making. Did the job no problem. You just have to remember to clamp the jig down first.

Martin Ward

Quick and simple to use. Even a complete novice like me can make proper joints for cabinets and furniture. Wouldn't be without it.

Barry Simms

I have had this for about a year now and find it invaluable in my wirkshop. It is so easy to use and makes quick work of knocking up a table. Well worth the money!

Jan Esseveld

I bought this tool specifically to make and attach face frames to home built kitchen units. It did the job really well and quickly, the tool is simple to use and produced good strong joints. It is very important to ensure the items being fixed together are clamped as the screw is going in at an angle and it moves the timber unless firmly fixed, so make sure you have some clamps handy, you knew that anyway of course. I used a bit of glue on the joint and the test piece I used (40x22 right angle joint with 2 screws) was very strong and neat. A good buy.
