FULL DESCRIPTION
This set of 20 is our largest collection of forstner bits and includes 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 13mm, 14mm, 15mm, 16mm, 18mm, 19mm, 20mm, 22mm, 25mm, 28mm, 30mm, 32mm, 35mm, 38mm, 40mm, 45mm and 50mm diameter bits, each with an overall length of 90mm and a 10mm round shank. These forstner sawtooth bits are made from a special grade of high carbon steel which is extremely hard wearing and retains its hardness over prolonged use, resulting in a bit that will not deform under heat and which will always keep the same cutting geometry, over its lifetime.

The rim of the forstner bit is a fraction of a millimetre higher than the chippers which results in the bit entering the wood cleanly, prior to the chippers clearing the wood. The double-chip channels means swarf is quickly cleared, minimising rim heat, allowing for clean cut, flat bottom holes in hard, soft and exotic woods. The teeth have a skewed geometry to ensure minimal fibre pull and tearing of the wood. The bits are back tapered from the cutting edge to reduce friction and prevent binding and have been fully ground to give precise concentricity to ensure a highly accurate hole. These bits are primarily used in a drill press or the tailstock of a lathe when boring end grain. The bits are supplied in individual plastic storage cases for protection. Our choice in forstner bits sets for the discerning woodworker and woodturner. ©

Not so boring bits

I got these on the deal so a bit of a steal. Only used two of them so far and they have performed as expected. They cut nice and clean and quickly. It is a very comprehensive set hard to see what size is missing if any. For the price of 80 for the set I don’t think you can go wrong. I’ve no doubt that when the time comes to sharpen a bit I could improve on it if not then its time to buy a better bit, because by then it has shown me which bit I use most. They came individually packed so get in the shop and make yourself a storage case.

I ordered this set of Forstner bits when

I ordered this set of Forstner bits when on offer. Unlike the smaller sets they do not come in a box but each bit is individually in a plastic box that is labelled with its size. I have used the 50mm and 45mm while making a small goblet on the lathe and they worked vey well. Very happy with my purchase.

Can't really comment as I have not used them yet but email was asking for a review. Bought them from one of the daily price drop, good price for a set. Other reviews rate then so I have no reason to believe they are no good. I just found it odd how the set skips sizes up to the 20mm, no 9mm, 11mm or 17mm.
