Product Details

'Kaizen' is a Japanese word for continuous improvement. Designed in the USA, this premium quality 13 layer foam insert will improve the organisation of your tools that are otherwise rolling around inside your drawers, causing edge tools to become blunt and other tools to become scratched and cause possible wear. The foam can be cut down to conform to every shape of drawer, offering both the professional and amateur alike total versatility in their storage. You can trace around your tools and cut the foam accordingly, once cut, simply pull the amount of necessary layers out to your required depth and your tool will fit perfectly in the created gap, keeping it both safe and wear-resistant.

The 13 layers can be pulled out at different depths to accommodate for a wide range of different shaped tools, such as a hammer, where the head will need to rest lower down than its handle. In addition to this, multiple sheets of foam can be applied together with tape, allowing for even thicker, bulkier tools to be stored. The foam's easy shape characteristics mean it can be heat moulded rather than cut, allowing for finger holes to be cleverly placed at the side of your tool cut outs, improving the organisation and accessibility of your tools further.

Supplied as a 57mm x 1200mm x 600mm sheet, kaizen foam is a necessity for every woodworker who may need to protect their carving tools that need to be kept to a mirror finish edge, secure large tools such as mallets that could damage other tools, or perhaps prevent aesthetic damage to valuable, complex shaped tools such as spray guns or hand planes. Highly recommended by Rutlands.

I carry tools in a deep rigid hinged case and this foam is invaluable. It protects the kit and lets you see immediately if you're about to leave something behind at a job site. Really solid and deep enough to support even large tools. Items don't slip out of place and sharp edges are completely protected. Well worth the price.

I bought an 4 x 2' sheet of foam and a section of optional wall mount frame. When it arrived I realised that you need to buy 2 lengths of the frame to make up a complete frame. Worth it though as it adds that finishing touch.

Initially I found it hard to peel back the layers of foam. I suggest trying doing it on an off-cut. Once you've mastered it, it becomes a doddle. All drawers on my Sjoberg bench are now Kaizened and looking very neat and tidy.

Had the same problem as the last reviewer with peeling off the strips until I looked up the videos of it online. The trick is how you peel it, you need to use your finger in a digging motion. Can sometimes be a little difficult to get the depth even the whole way around but just requires a bit of practice and keeping the knife the same depth. Have most my tools encased it this now and makes it easy to keep thing organised. Different depths being available would be handy too, this is quite thick so I split in half on on the bandsaw with some careful sawing.

I bought a pack of this foam and its excellent. Indeed I have added how I used it on my blog mikes-models.com/blog Really pleased with my purchase.

Fantastic product and great job processing my order Rutlands. I found it easy to use. Worth practising a few times first and watching the various youtube videos. Produces a professional looking drawer.

Well impressed with this stuff. I've managed to get three drawers organised using one sheet. It cuts very easily and the end result is very satisfying.

Like most woodworkers my tool drawer was to say the least cluttered. I have lost count how many times i delved in for a specific tool and ended up cutting my hand on a chisel or knife blade. Although it takes a good day to mark out and cut to shape this Kaizen foam is excellent and has saved me time and lots of plasters!
